FT: Uganda Kobs 1-2 Egypt (Agg: 1-6)
Mahmoud Abdelmonem Abelmamid Soliman scored twice as Egypt beat Uganda Kobs at Namboole qualify for CAF U-23 Championship.
The striker capitalized on Uganda Kobs’ mistake in the midfield to strike Egypt into the lead with a composed finish on 11 minutes for his first.
Kezironi Kizito lost the ball in the center and Egypt went on a break. Mohamed Salem headed down for Abdelmonem who easily beat Salim Jamal.
Yunus Sentamu had Uganda’s best chance of the first half for the equalizer but shot at the keeper who looked beaten.
On recess, skipper Farouk Miya ran the Egyptian defence down and set up Fahad Mohamed Hassan but his shot was blocked.
Minutes later, defender Richard Kasagga was invited to run through an opening and his shot went inches wide.
Micho made his first substitution. Erisa Ssekisambu made way for John Ssemazzi.
As Kobs continued to push for a consolation, it was Mahmoud Abdelmonem who doubled Egypt’s lead with his second of the game after being set up by Mahmoud Ahamed Hassan with a well weighted ground ball from the right that beat Jamal.
In the 75th minute, Miya crossed for Ssentamu and his volley forced a superb save from the Egyptian keeper. Three minutes later Miya got the consolation for the Kobs.
