Women Football: Kenya outwit Uganda in international build up at Kisumu Stadium


International Build Up (Women Football):

  • Kenya Harambee Starlets 4-0 Uganda Crested Cranes

The Kenya Harambee Starlets defeated a ten man Uganda Crested Cranes 4-0 during the international build up played at the Moi Sports Complex in Kisumu on Sunday, 3rd July 2016.

Mary Kinuthia Wanjiku scored a brace with the other goals coming from Wendy Achieng and Esse Akida.

Uganda’s first first choice keeper Fatumah Matovu was red carded for handling the ball outside the goal area.

Joan Nakirya, an outfield player paved way for the substitute goalie, Ruth Aturo.

 

Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) president told the FUFA Website after the game that the result does not matter but rather helps the team prepare;

Let us not look at the result. FUFA has created a pool of players from which the technical side can pick.

The league and regional leagues are helping the players. Let’s plan for CECAFA Women championship in September 2016.

 

The match was handled by Kenya’s finest woman FIFA referee Caroline Wanjala.
