Burundi, Sudan officials to handle Uganda – Rwanda 2018 CHAN Qualifiers

CAF has appointed Burundi and Sudan officials to officiate the first and second leg of the duels between Uganda and Rwanda in the 2018 CHAN qualifiers respectively.

The first leg to be hosted by Uganda Cranes at St. Mary’s Stadium Kitende will be officiated by centre referee Pacifique Ndabihawenimana who will be assisted by compatriots Gustave Baguma, Willy Habimana while Georges Gatogato will be the reserve referee.

Kenyan Mohamed Omar Abubaker Yusuf will be the match Commissioner for the day.

For the return leg at Stade de Kigali a week later, Sudanese officials in charge of the game will be Hafiz Abdelghani Alamen in centre referee assisted by compatriots Haitham Elnour Ahmed, Omer Hamid Mohamed Ahmed and Elsiddig Mohamed Eltreefe as the reserve referee.

The match commissioner will be Charles Samuel Kafatia from Malawi.

Rwanda eliminated Tanzania, while Uganda knocked out South Sudan at the previous round.

Amavubi missed out on the inaugural tournament in 2009 but went on to feature at the edition in 2011 and last year’s edition which they hosted and reached the quarter-finals before getting knocked out 2-1 by the eventual champions, DR Congo.

Uganda has played at three successive CHAN finals but have never gone beyond group stage.
