- 2018 CHAN Qualifiers | Final Round, 1st Leg
- Uganda Cranes 3-0 Rwanda
Muzamiru Mutyaba scored twice and Derrick Nsibambi netted the other to inspire Uganda Cranes to a 3-0 win against Rwanda in the 2018 CHAN Qualifiers.
In the final round first leg encounter played at St Mary’s Stadium in Kitende, Mutyaba found the opener from 12 yards in the fourteenth minute after Nsibambi had been fouled in the area.
The KCCA FC creative gem doubled Cranes lead ten minutes later. After sequence of passes between Nico Wakiro Wadada, Moses Waiswa and Milton Kariisa, Mutyaba was set up to slot home the second in a game the hosts were totally in command.
Bernard Muwanga, Savio Kabugo and goalkeeper Ismael Watenga were all booked in first half by Burundian FIFA referee Pacifique Ndabihawenimana.
Muwanga was withdrawn at the start of the second half for Tom Masiko and it was not long before the third goal arrived.
After a good interplay between Vipers trio of Kariisa, Waiswa and Wadada, KCCA FC forward Nsibambi found some space to curl home the third to complete Uganda Cranes rout of their neighbours.
Mutyaba who almost completed a hat-trick with a lob paved way for Paul Mucureezi while Muhammad Shaban replaced largely effective Moses Waiswa.
Rwanda tried to push for an away goal heading into the second leg next Saturday at the Kigali Regional Stadium but all their efforts were futile.
