Moses Basena was impressed by Uganda Cranes performance in the 1-0 win against Egypt at Mandela National stadium, Namboole last Thursday.

Striker Emmanuel Arnold Okwi scored the lone goal on the day six minutes into the second half as Uganda Cranes recorded their first win against the Pharaohs in over 50 years.

Basena appreciated the collective effort of the players, technical team, media and the fans alike

“This was a result of teamwork effort. From the players, fellow coaches, fans, the media and everyone, there is a reason or two to single collective responsibility,” he said

“It is not always very easy to play against a side as technically gifted as Egypt. For this reason, I thank the players in a special way.

“There is still work to be done when we play them in the return leg and players should not know that the work was done. We still have another chapter in Alexanderia.”

Uganda Cranes arrived in Egypt for the return match Sunday afternoon and conducted light training in the evening.

The team will train at the match venue on Monday ahead of the return leg on Tueday, September 5.
