Head coach Moses Basena has revealed how proud he his about the way he worked with Uganda Cranes despite Ghana draw at Namboole Stadium.
The tatctician clearly felt Uganda did not perform to expectation but he revealed how glad he is in the way he worked with squad.
“We are a little bit crestfallen for drawing here in Namboole,” Basena told reporters.
“But when you draw against a strong opponent like Ghana, you don’t really lose hope and there are some positives we pick from the game,” he added.
We are disappointed by the result but happy with how we worked especially myself as a coach. There are many people who doubted our ability but I am happy that we showed we can play against any team.
This game could have gone either way and I think the fans got entertained. We had some problems going forward especially in the first half when we lost many balls.
But when we tried to correct later, they also stood firm and I really have to thank them they did give their all.
Uganda’s chances of qualification were dented by the draw but later blown out after Egypt won at home against Congo courtesy of Mohammed Salah’s brace on the 60th and 95th minutes.
