CAF CL: Security restricts Al Ahly fans to only 50,000 ahead of Alexandria clash

Security has restricted Al Ahly fans to only 50,000 ahead of Alexandria clash between the club and rivals Wydad Casablanca on Saturday.

The two teams clash in the  first leg of the Total CAF Champions League after knocking out Tunisia’s Etoile Du Sahel in the semifinals.

Al Ahly officials has requested the Borg El Arab stadium be filled to capacity hence allowing for 70,000 but security admitted it could only handle 20,000 people less.

“We have asked to increase the fans to 70,000 but the security has only agreed to 50,000,” Shams said as quoted by Kingfut.

 “The club totally respects and understands the authority’s decision, although we hoped there would be an increase in the numbers.”
Al Ahly seek their 9th  CAF Champions League title while Wydad Casablanca are looking to add to their 1992 glory, a final they won against Sudan’s Al-Hilal Club.
