Rwanda makes Morocco CHAN 2018 finals

Rwanda Amavubi Stars made the finals of the 2018 Championship of African Nations (CHAN) after drawing against Ethiopia.

Rwanda line up against Uganda during the first leg

The East African nation joined the other 15 successful countries on aggregate thanks to their first leg 3-2 win over the same side in Addis Ababa.

Aschalew Girma scored for Ethiopia on 17 minutes but Rwanda equalized through Eric Rutanga in the 55th minute.

Ethiopia went ahead again 10 minutes later through Sani’s header after a cross by midfielder Samson Tilahun from the left wing but Muhadjiri Hakizimana leveled, pouncing on Ethiopia goalie Birhanu’s error to make amends.

Abeddy Biramahire netted the winner that went on to matter even in Kigali.

Rwanda becomes the third country from the CECAFA region, joining Uganda and Sudan for the tournament to be hosted in Morocco.
