Interim head coach of the Uganda Cranes Moses Basena is confident the national team can battle any side on the continent following their 1-1 against Congo on Sunday.
Milton Karisa scored the outfit’s equaliser as the side salvaged a point in the last group E of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Uganda played eight games in the FIFA 2018 World Cup qualifiers and Basena, who ended it at the helm after being assistant to Mulitin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic says the country has all the capability to shine despite a not-so-much desired ending.
“We are in the right direction and all our players love what they do,” said Basena. “Now the focus is on project 2019,” he added.
The transformation is fine and future is bright. We just hope the players remain consistent and avoid injuries and it’s always message to them after every national team game.
We ended our campaign on a good note. Not as good as we expected because we wanted to win but that’s football.
Why not so good? There is a level we have now reached that we feel we can battle any team on the continent.
Up next for Cranes will be the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup just before CHAN next year.
