CECAFA head Nicholas Musonye has launched an attack on Zimbabwe after the country withdrew from the 2017 CECAFA tournament.
Zimbabwe Football Association cited insecurity in the host country, Kenya as the main reason why they will not participate.
This reason angered the Council’s General Secretary Nicholas Musonye, who said;
“Zimbabwe should just shut up if they do not want to come for the tournament.
“They have their issues which are bigger than ours and cannot talk about the security in Kenya,” he added.
They had requested to be part of this tournament and we considered them. We had not bothered to invite them (Zimbabwe) here so the tournament will still go on without them.
Musonye confirmed another guest team, Libya, will be checking in on Saturday for the showpiece that will get underway on 3rd December and will run through to 17th December, 2017 in Kenya at three venues – Nakuru, Kakamega and Machakos.
Zimbabwe had been drawn in the same group (B) as Uganda Cranes, the tournament record winners. Other Group B teams are; Burundi, Ethiopia and South Sudan.
