Basena names final team for CECAFA 2017 Championship


2017 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup:

Uganda Cranes head coach Moses Basena has named the final squad for the CECAFA 2017 Championship to take place in Kakamega, Kenya.

The team has three goalkeepers, seven defenders, 8 midfielders and 4 forwards.

Some of the players on the team which won the last CECAFA in Ethiopia are goalies Isma Watenga and Benjamin Ochan, defenders Nico Wakiro Wadada, Joseph Nsubuga, Isaac Muleme, Timothy Awanyi, Shafiq Bakaki and Bernard Muwanga as well as midfielder Muzamiru Mutyaba.

Left footed midfielder Method Bassey (Mbarara City), Juma Balinya (Police), Steven Mugisa (Police), Seif Batte (Bright Stars) and Onduparaka goalkeeper Nicholas Ssebwato failed to make the side.

Sports Club Villa Jogoo defender Ibrahim Kiyemba opted out as he left for greener pastures in South Africa and was replaced with Vipers’ Shafiq Bakaki.
