Manchester City’s Leroy Sane is set to make a shock return to Manchester City in the Champions League on Tuesday – five weeks ahead of schedule.
Sane was expected to be out for up to seven weeks after suffering ankle ligament damage but the player seems to have defied all odds.
He was on the receiving end of a horror challenge in City’s FA Cup win at Cardiff a fortnight ago but his remarkable recovery may see him vie for a place in the starting line up as City take on FC Basel away in the first leg of their last 16 Champions League tie.
City boss Pep Guardiola admitted he was surprised by Sane’s quick return.
“He worked a lot, he’s young, but i couldn’t expect such a young guy to be so professional.
“He’s not in perfect condition, but he wants to help us, he’s with us and that’s good news. The physios and hims have done a good job.”
