Wayne Rooney has wished Michael Carrick a happy retirement and success in his new coaching career at Manchester United.
Carrick, 36, confirmed earlier this week that he plans to retire in the summer and admitted it’s ‘looking likely’ that he will accept Jose Mourinho’s offer to join United’s staff.
‘There comes a time when, as much as you like or don’t like it, your body tells you it’s time to stop playing football,” Carrick said earlier this week.
‘That’s pretty much where I’m at, which is fine. It’s something you have to accept. That’s where I’m at.”
Good luck to my good friend @carras16 who is retiring at the end of the season. Great teammate and one of the best I’ve played with. Briliant career and I’m sure he will be very successful in his new role as a coach 👏🏼👏🏼 pic.twitter.com/K2ZByYUxz1
