Uganda Crested Cranes will travel by road to Kenya on Saturday, March 31 for the first leg of the 2018 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations qualifiers against Kenya Harambee Starlets.
Twenty six players have been in residential camp for nearly a week at the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) Female Campus, Kabojja in preparation for the qualifiers with the first leg to be played in Machakos.
The team played a practice match on Wednesday winning, 2-1, against Kamapala Select.
Forward Zainah Namuleme who is also among the younger crop on the team says the changes in the team will help get a descent result in Kenya.
“We have lost to Kenya twice, but this time around, players and coaches on both teams have changed and from the training we have received, we are not scared about our opponents,” she said as quoted by the federation website.
“We are feeling fine and our coaches are doing the needful of guiding the entire team. We are getting set for the final input to be replicated on to the pitch into action with all the basics the coaches have given to the team. We shall deliver,” midfielder Tracy Akiror echoed her teammate.
