Crested Cranes coach Farida Bulega has named the final 20-player squad for the upcoming COSAFA Women’s Championship in South Africa.
The tournament is slated for September 12th-23rd Port Elizabeth, South Africa. And Head Coach Faridah Bulega has trimmed the squad from the initial 23 who entered residential training camp on last Friday to the final 20.
They fly out on Monday (3:15pm) aboard South African Airways. Favour Danielita Nambatya, Fauzia Najjemba and Mariam Nakabugo have been the high-profile omissions.
Bulega and the National team selectors have included five new faces who didn’t take part in the CECAFA Women’s Championship held in Rwanda last July.
These include Hasifa Nassuna, Shakira Mutiibwa, Shamirah Nalugya, Resty Nanziri and Riticia Nabbosa. Uganda is pitted against Zimbabwe, Swaziland and Namibia in Group C and will open their account against Swaziland at the Wollfon Stadium on 12th September.
