Arsenal will have to battle French side AS Monaco for a slot in the quarter finals according to the UEFA Champions League round of 16 draw. In a draw held on Monday December 15, The Gunners who finished second in group D avoided giants Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munchen among others but face a tricky side in Monaco.

Monaco topped group C by scoring just four goals in six group games albeit conceding one in the process. The Gunners host the side; formerly coached by Arsene Wenger in the first leg before a trip to France.

In other draws, English champions Manchester City will once again face Barcelona at the same stage they did last season whilst Chelsea will face PSG; another repeat of one of last season’s knock out fixtures.

Champions Real Madrid also face familiar opponents in Schalke, Bayern play Ukraine’s Shakhtar Donestik, Juventus face Dortmund , FC Basel face Porto while Leverkusen entertain Atletico Madrid.
