CAF CONFEDERATIONS CUP 2015 :
Preliminary Round:

URA F.C (Uganda) 3-2 ASSM Elegco Plus F.C (Madagascar)

Striker, Robert Sentongo scored two goals for Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) football club in the club’s 3-2 home victory over  Madagascar club, ASSM Elegco Plus Football  on a slippery  Nelson Mandela Stadium, Namboole in Kampala on Friday.

The first 45 minutes of the game bore no fruits in terms of goals scored but the Ugandan club won 8 corners to one of Elgeco Plus.

URA were however shocked 4 minutes after the game restart, earning a double punishment, a straight red card to defender Jonathan Mugabi and falling down to Yvon Njilamanana.

The penalty resulted from a professional foul on Jose Rakotomavo that also earned Mugabi a send off for unsporting conduct.

Njilamanana, who had replaced winger, Tojo Claudel Fanamezana on the half hour mark converted the resultant freekick which goal keeper, Brian Bwete failed to tame.

Playing with 10 men has never been any coach’s wishes.

URA F.C head coach, Alex Isabirye swiftly called for two changes.
Diminutive left winger Elukana Nkugwa replaced Peter Lwasa before Frank Kalanda came in for Patrick Ochan moments later.

The changes ignited pace to the Tax collectors’ side and the writing was on the wall that URA were a team on a mission possible.

Indeed, it was. In the 65th minute, Uganda Cranes striker, Robert Ssentongo found the host’s equalizer.

Perhaps, Elegeco’s Deanny Rajaorimanana had different reasons all together, scoring the second penalty for his side on the evening after Oscar’s foul.

Isabirye then called for URA’s third and final change, withdrawing Saidi Kyeyune for Mohamound Feni.

Feni there and then started business, and after a quick one -two with Nkugwa, he crossed for Sentongo down the left for goal number two.

Striker Frank Kalanda reacted quickest to nett the winner 10 minutes to the final whistle  after goal keeper,Eddit Basita had spilled the ball in his path.

The goal was definitely the last on the day of the thrilling clash.

The return leg is expected after a fortnight with the visitors departing for home on Sunday.

URA Head coach is assured of progress after the home performance:

The red card disorganized my team. I do thank the team for the come back mentality and we hope to progress to the next stage.

Kampala City Council (KCC) F.C plays at the same venue on Saturday in the CAF Champions league against Cameroon’s Cosmos De Bafia.
