FUFA Big league: Kick off – 21st September 2015

Several FUFA Big League clubs are in a steady rush against time to complete the licensing regulations well ahead of the anticipated kick-off of 21st September 2015.

The second tier league in the country – FUFA Big League will have the new season draft fixtures released on Wednesday 9th September 2015.

“The clubs are now finalizing with the set regulations as the licensing exercise also continues” FUFA Competitions director, Ali Mwebe told Airtel Uganda Football on Thursday.

Mwebe added;

Like the regulations we set for the Uganda Premier league, slight relaxed regulations have been channeled to the FUFA Big league clubs with the possession of a playable playing ground, working office key of them

The league was started in 2010 replacing the Super Mini Leagues which were a basis for teams to be promoted to the elite Uganda Premier League.

Now, there are two groups – Rwenzori and Elgon.

The winner of each group automatically qualifies to the premier league with the third team determined through a promotional format of play after the two best teams per group are engaged in a play-off.

Last season, Jinja Municipal Council, Maroons and The Saints were promoted from the Big League.

The respective regional leagues are the feeder source for the Big League.
