Allan Kabonge

Onduparaka football club head coach, Allan Kabonge has come out to throw a token of appreciation to the players for the wonderful performances of the year.

On Sunday, the Arua team reached the finals of the 2015/16 Uganda Cup to add to the earlier achievement of being promoted to the  Azam Uganda Premier League.

In an exclusive interview with Airtel Uganda Football, Kabonge acknowledged that the players have been key in the team’s struggle.

I thank the players. They have been excellent throughout the season.

Reaching the final of the Uganda Cup is a great achievement for the club. We now want to win the trophy.

To get promoted to the top tier league, Onduparaka topped the Elgon Group of the FUFA Big League to earn direct entry before losing the final of the Big league 2-0 to Kirinya-Jinja S.S at Nakivubo stadium.

In the Uganda Cup, they caused the biggest shock of the tourney, when they defeated defending champion, Sports Club Villa at Nakivubo Stadium during the Round of 32 stage.

Unbeaten Home run:

Throughout the entire season, they did not lose even a single fixture at the Green Light stadium in all competitions, a feat Kabonge attributes to dedicated play and fans’ passion.

At home, we have been unstoppable because the players have been in the best spirits with the full backing of our fans who cheer from the first to last whistle.

I salute the fans for the great display and charisma.

Onduparaka thus progressed to the final after a 5-0 aggregate victory over Entebbe and they will play Vipers this Saturday at Nakivubo stadium for a ticket to the CAF Confederation Cup.

Vipers ejected KCCA 2-1 on aggregate after two semi final legs played at Nakivubo and Buikwe.

George Nsiimbe’s charges won 2-0 at Nakivbo with goals coming from Erisa Ssekisambu and lanky forward Alfred Leku.

KCCA replied with a 1-0 result at Buikwe in the return leg with Derrick Nsibambi on target but wasn’t enough to see them through.
