Ulinzi Stars 0-1 Tusker
For the first time in 23 years, Tusker FC are GOtv Shield Cup winners.
The former Kenyan champions beat Ulinzi 1-0 in the finals at Nyayo stadium on Thursday to lift the crown they had last won way back in 1993.
Paul Nkata, the Ugandan tactician is the main man behind the Brewers’ triumph and now targets a double as Tusker leads the 16 team log in the Kenya Premier League with four games to go.
“One down, the hunt for the other continues,” an excited Nkata stated. “I congratulate everyone at the club from the fans to my players on this big day,” he added.
But it wasn’t just Nkata on the Tusker side, his compatriots Hashim Sempala, Shafik Batambuze and Martin Kizza all featured against Ulinzi.
Former Simba SC winger, Robert Omunuk was an unused substitute while former SC Villa captain and KCCA midfielder Anthony Ndolo assisted Allan Wanga’s lone goal in the 32nd minute.
Tusker walked home with a cash prize of Ksh. 2 million (Ugx. 67 million) while beaten finalists, Ulinzi took home half of that.
