Uganda Cranes faces Zanzibar in the second semi final of the 2017 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup on Friday.

Hosts Kenya Harambee Stars became the first side to qualify for the final with a 1-0 victory over Burundi in extra time.

Uganda faces the islanders at  Moi Sports Complex in Kisumu.

Team News:

Uganda and Zanzibar traveled well to Kisumu and held the final training session at the Moi Sports Complex.

Uganda played all their group B matches at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega whilst Zanzibar was involved in group A in Machakos.

Uganda Cranes finished top of group B with 5 points, recording a comprehensive 5-1 win against South Sudan and drawing twice goal-less against Burundi and one all with Ethiopia in the tense final group.

Coach Moses Basena is confident ahead of the tie but says the onus is on the pearl.

“We respect Zanzibar but we are ready for the best task ahead of us. The onus is to reach the final and successfully defend the championship” Basena stated.

All the players are fit for the game with only two suspensions (defenders Timothy Awany and Isaac Muleme).

Police left back Aggrey Madoi is expected to replace Muleme while Tadeo Lwanga or Shafik Bakaki could replace Awany to partner team captain Bernard Muwanga.
