Ssekisambu spurs Vipers past Kira United at Kitende | Uganda Cup

Uganda Premier League club Vipers SC overcame second tier side Kira United 1-0 during a round of 16 engagement of the Uganda Cup at the St Mary’s stadium, Kitende on Thursday.

Erisa Ssekisambu scored the only goal of the match –  a well taken penalty on 50 minutes after a hand ball call inside the goal area.

Tom Masiko and Dan Muzeyi Sserunkuma come close earlier on in the match, before forward Steven Mukwala replaced midfielder Frank ‘Zaga’ Tumwesigye.

Vipers, who had defeated Police at the earlier stage held onto the lead to progress to the quarter finals where other top flight sides as KCCA, SC Villa Jogoo, Proline are also qualified.

Hoima based club Kitara, Kansai Plascon and Masaka’s Synergy are the three second tier clubs that progressed to the last eight stage.

Kitara humiliated Seeta 4-0 in Hoima, Kansai Plascon humbled top flight club Mbarara City at Kakyeeka while Synergy overcame Buganda side Busula 1-0.
