Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has boasted the technical wing of the Uganda U-23 national side (Kobs) with the addition of Charles Ayieko in the capacity of assistant coach.
The Kirinya Jinja SS coach will be second in command of Head Coach Wasswa Bbosa as the Kobs start preparations for their two legged U-23 Afcon preliminary qualifier against South Sudan between 14th- 20th this month.
“Football takes commitment, hard work and patience. I am so honoured for the appointment. I thank FUFA for this appointment. This is a dream come true since I started my coaching career,” an elated Ayieko said.
With head coach Sebastien Desabre occupied by preparations of Uganda Cranes ahead of the Cape Verde game, The Kob’s technical bench has been left with a man less and the Federation headhunted the former Soana FC and Nyamityobora FC coach.
He vowed to impact his football knowledge and skills to help the team; “This is a great opportunity to work with my colleagues and share my football knowledge and skills as I serve my country with passion,” Ayiekho added.
Former Uganda Cranes legendary goalkeeper Sadiq Wassa is the Uganda Kobs goalkeeping while Ayub Balyejusa is the team coordinator.
Yahya Katumba is the medical officer of the team. Coincidentally, Uganda Cranes will host Cape Verde at the Mandela National Stadium on the 17 November 2018 in a group L clash of the AFCON 2019 qualifiers before facing Nigeria on 20 November in an international build up match that will be played in Asaba.
