The long drawn out transfer saga of Pius Wangi and Ashraf Mandela to join SC Villa from Vipers SC has finally been settled.
Vipers SC, the players parent club, had blocked the players from joining the 16- record league winners with the former insisting the two players had running contracts with the Kitende based side.
The Venoms also accused the players of shunning loan deals to Nyamityobora FC.
Initially, Fufa Players status committee had ruled in favour of the players to join SC Villa but Vipers appealed the decision, a fate that left the players ineligible to play since the start of the 2018-9 UPL season.
Peter Lwanga, the Vipers CEO in two separate letters to the Villa CEO agreed to release the players and wished them well.
“The club hereby notifies you that Vipers SC management has released Pius Wangi/ Mandela who has been a contracted player to your club (SC Villa)….” read part of the letter seen by Airtel Football.
“The club wishes him (them) a successful career going forward.”
The news comes less than 24 hours before the Jogoos who are winless in six league games host rivals KCCA at Namboole on Tuesday.
With lack of goals SC Villa’s Achilles heel in their six opening games, Pius Wangi is expected to paper over the goal scoring cracks in Basena’s attack.
