Maroons 2 Onduparaka FC 1
Solomon Walusimbi and Rashid Agau scored goals to jolt Maroons FC to their first victory of the 2018-9 UPL season with a 2-1 victory against Onduparaka FC in Luzira.
With former coach Asaph Mwebaze making his return to Luzira following an off-season move to Onduparaka, and Maroons searching their first maximum points of the season thus far, the match had all ingredients of a dicey affair.
Solomon Walusimbi, scorer of Maroon’s equaliser on against Police FC on Sunday, put his side in the lead after capitalizing on a mistake by net-minder Richard Anyama.
Former Ondu attacker Rashid Agau eventually ensured safety of all the points when he added the second in the 66th min.
Like compatriot Walusmbi, It was Agau’s second goal in the last two games.
Skipper Rashid Toha pulled one back for Mwebaze’s side in the dying embers of the game but it Nsimbe’s Maroons weathered the stormy last minutes to retain the three points at home.
Onduparaka dropped to seventh on the log with 11 points while Maroons jumped out of the relegation zone for the first time to 13 with five points.
