Former KCCA FC forward Paul Mucureezi got the all important goal that grabbed headlines for all the right reasons, literally.

The 30th minute strike lifted the Ankole Lions at the summit of the UPL table on 16 points and also marked Mbarara City’s fifth win out of eight games played so far.

Before kick-off on Tuesday, every one of Mbarara City, Bright Stars and BUL had chance to go top with a victory, and from the lot, it was Mbarara City that obliged.

They beat visiting BUL while Bright Stars were held by Express in one-all draw in Mwerwere.

Victory also means that the Jinja based side have not won against the Mbarara based side in all the three encounters they have played against each.

The Charles Livingstone Mbabazi coached outfit are going to be read as table leaders at least up to 20th November when KCCA FC host Nyamityobora FC at Lugogo.

BUL FC slips to 5th with 14 points from 8 games.

Both teams will be back in action on Tuesday 30th November as Mbarara City visits Police at StarTimes Stadium Lugogo while BUL FC will welcome Vipers SC at FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.
