Vipers SC captain Tadeo Lwanga has revealed his teammates are ready for their CAF Champions League preliminary round return leg against Al Merriekh at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
The visiting team Al Merriekh from Sudan carries a 2-1 lead after the opening leg played last week in Khartoum but Lwanga believes they will overturn the result.
We are ready. We have been training very well since we returned from Sudan. We target the group stages. Tomorrow is our day. We are representing not only the Vipers family but the entire country as well.
The home advantage will be key for us. The other positive is that we scored away. Al Merriekh has its own weaknesses and we shall capitalize on those weak lines as we approach the game.
Tadeo Lwanga, Vipers captain
We are ready for the match at home against Al Merriekh. I expect a tough match. We want to be very aggressive and offensive in the return leg. Every single match is planned differently. The return leg at home is a different match altogether from the first leg. In football, different player stake on different matches. We learnt lessons from the first leg away. The team is improving. We have prepared for every situation including set pieces and open play. Davis Kasirye and Steven Mukwala return although the goalkeeper Fabien Mutombora is still sidelined and recovering Our target is to progress to the next game.
Javier Martinez Espinoza, head coach Vipers Sports Club
Al Merriekh team trained on Monday and will conduct their final training on Tuesday afternoon.
Gates open at 1 p.m. Gate 5 for Vipers fans. Visiting fans use gates one and two.
