Wakiso Giants rallied from a goal down to beat hosts Entebbe FC 2-1 in thrilling Elgon group encounter at Muteesa II stadium Wakulukuku on Thursday.
Goals from Abdul Karimu Kasule and Geoffrey Luutu jolted the Purple Sharks to victory that has seen them consolidate their table leadership status.
Entebbe drew first blood through attacker Solomon Wafula as early as the 13 minute of the game.
Wafula put his towering stature to good use when he rose highest above his markers to nod home an inviting cross from Brunno Sserunkuma.
But the Visitors equalised under strange circumstances when Entebbe Goolie Noel Bayiga failed to deal with Abdul Karim Kasule’s looping 45- yard curling cross that nestled at the back of the net.
Geoffrey Luutu put the Purple Sharks in the lead after recess, a goal that proved the eventual winner, and even though Allan Kabonge’s charges huffed and buffed for an equalizer, their Opponents held on to start 2019 on a winning note.
Ibrahim Kirya’s Wakiso Giants also retained their proud unbeaten run in 10 matches and consolidate top spot with 19 points.
