Ugandan Custodian Mathias Kigonya has completed his move to Zambia Premier League side Forest Rangers Football Club.
The former Bright Stars goal Keeper agreed personal terms with the Ndola-based club that host matches at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium.
Kigonya sprung a surprise when decided to leave Kenyan side Kakamega Home Boyz F.C after just a month on joining the KPL outfit.
A household name Kenyan Football, Kigonya had joined the Kakamenga based side from Sofapaka FC where he had spent close to four years.
The reasons for Kigonya’s premature departure from Kakamenga are not yet known.
The player’s agent and intermediary Simon Wasswa confirmed the development.
“Yes. Mathias Kigonya signed a two year deal with Forest Rangers in Zambia from Kakemega Home Boyz. The Zambian club compensated Kakamega Home Boyz and everything is now settled. We wish Kigonya the very best in his career,” the football agent said.
Forest Rangers Football Club is funded by the Zambia Forestry and Forest Industries Corporation (ZAFFICO) Limited, a Government institution that manages all forest resources in Zambia.
They are christened as ‘Fole Malembe’ by the ardent faithfuls, currently managed by Perry Mutapa.
Kigonya’s key objective will be to improve the club’s performances from last season’s 12th position.
