Burundi U-20 2-0 Uganda Cubs (U-17 national team)
The Uganda U-17 National team, the Cubs fall 2-0 to Burundi U-20 team in an international friendly game away in Bujumbura on Tuesday.
Cedric Mavugo and Bienvenue Kanakimana scored in either half as the hosts made easy work of their junior Uganda counterparts in a match played at the Stade Prince Louis Rwagasore.
The Federation Of Uganda Football Associations hastily organised the friendly game after the 2019 U-20 CECAFA Championships, were the Cubs were meant to feature, was called-off.
Uganda had decided to use the Cubs for the U-20 tournament as early efforts to prepare the former for this year’s U-17 AFCON to be held in Tanzania in April.
First team assistant coach Jackson Magera praised the boy’s display despite the loss.
“Although we have lost the game, I am impressed by the performance of the team players,” Magera told the FUFA website after the clash.
“There are many aspects technically and tactically that we have to improve upon especially how to defend well and convert the created chances. We shall continue to improve as the preparations for the U-17 AFCON finals go on,” he added.
