Gor Mahia players celebrate one of their two goals against AFC Leopards

Two Ugandans, Shafiq Batambuze and Erisa Ssekisambu featured for Mashemeji derby winning side – Gor Mahia as they defeated AFC Leopards 2-0 at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

Batambuze lasted for the entire duration of the game while Ssekisambu was introduced in the final 10 minutes for the injured Jacques Tuyisenge.

Midfielders Kenneth Muguna and Francis Kahata were on target for the K’Ogalo over the Ingwe in the charged contest.

In fact, the goal margin would have been extended had Tuyisenge’s 70th minute goal been not controversially cancelled for offside.

AFC Leopards last victory in the Mashemeji derby came in March 2016.

This result enabeled Gor Mahia ascend to second place on the log with 22 points while AFC Leopards remain 15th with 10 points.

It was a hard match that we worked collectively to win. This was a sweet victory and we are all happy
