The national beach soccer league kicked off at Lido Beach in Entebbe on Sunday with 54 goals scored altogether from the matches played.
Nkumba University’s 13-2 victory over Entebbe Sharks was the game that produced most goals.
Hassan Kivumbi led the goal galore with a lion’s share of the goals (seven).
Emmanuel Wasswa, also a player at Ndejje University in the Uganda Premier League also scored a hat-trick.
Jamie Asega registered a brace and Yusuf Joloba’s own goal completed the misery.
Joloba also turned out to score Entebbe Shark’s consolation goals.
In the other matches, MUBS edged MS Sand Lions 3-2 in a well contested game.
Elvis Kasujja (2) and Frank Bomboka were on target for Charles Ayiekoh’s coached side.
MS Sand Lion’s goals were scored by Simon Kizito.
Isabeti condemned Stomers 5-3 in the third game.
Uganda Sand Cranes captain Roch Somoka netted twice as so was Swaibu Kakwaya as well as the towering Rica Byaruhanga.
Stormers’ goals came from Nigerian import Vincent Inyeama, Hamis Kiggundu and Jacob Kalule.
The league will resume after next weekend.
The play-offs shall be played in May 2019 to determine the overall winner of the league.
It is good to see the national beach soccer league back for the second round after a break from last year. Seeing as many goals scored is a good indicator of offensive action and approach from players and the coaches
