High flying FUFA Big League out-fit Wakiso Giants became the first club to qualify for the 2019 Uganda Cup quarter-finals, following a 4-2 tense post-match penalty victory over Tooro United during a contested Round of 16 duel played at the Kyabazinga stadium, Jinja on Friday.

Ivan Kiweewa, Isaac Ntege, James Kasibante and Hassan Wasswa Dazo all converted for Ibrahim Kirya’s coached side.

Goalkeeper Ivan Mutumba stopped left back Isa Mubiru’s kick from the penalty spot and John Toki Byamukama struck the woodwork.

In 90 minutes, there were a couple of missed goal scoring moments.

Also, Wakiso Giants had qualified from the round of 32 via a tense penalty shoot out, eliminating Kireka United 5-4 at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

Tooro United had shocked the nation when they ejected holders KCCA at the previous stage.
