Uganda Premier League | Bright Stars FC 2-1 Nyamityobora FC | Champions Stadium, Mwererwe
Nelson Ssenkatuka was in fine form on Tuesday as Bright Stars FC secured maximum points against Nyamityobra FC on Tuesday in Mwererwe.
The striker scored a brace to help the Kawempe based side win the game 2-1. Farouk Katongole scored into his own net for Nyamityobora’s consolation.
The home side was dominant right from on set and got several chances before eventually getting the opener towards the end of the first half.
Ssenkatuka, Brian Kayanja, Juma Ssebaduka and Brian Enzama all got several chances in the first half but failed to convert.
It was the skipper who curled home in the 43rd minute off a quick corner kick started by Dan Bilikwalira who is on loan from Vipers SC.
The duo once again combined well for Bright Stars second goal with Bilikwalira set up Ssenkatuka.
The robust forward almost completed his hat trick moments later but he was unlucky with his effort from a free kick hitting the base of the goal post.
Improvement from the visitors in the second half helped them pull one back when defender Katongole headed Peter Otai’s cross into his own net.
Abanyakare almost leveled matters through Ibrahim Dada but his effort sailed just wide.
The result leaves Bright Stars in 8th place on 31 points while Nyamityobora remain grounded in the drop zone on 16 points.
