With 19 of his 25-man first squad not involved during the international break, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær will have no excuses against Watford.
The match takes on extra importance after a recent 2-0 loss to Arsenal pushed them out of the top-four, although they remain just two points behind.
United haven’t lost three competitive matches in a row since September 2016 and they can ill-afford a loss to Watford considering their Premier League (PL) run-in that includes matches against Man City and Chelsea.
United have lost only once at home in the PL this season, with 11 of those 14 seeing goals at both ends (78.57%).
In fact, the ‘Red Devils’ have just two PL home clean sheets this season and only Fulham have fewer.
Watford have won five of their last seven competitive matches, and three in their last five PL games, with both losses to the top two.
A chance to climb into the top seven (one point ahead) is a reality for a side that hasn’t lost two PL games in a row since early December 2018.
Away from home, it is just one win in five PL away games and eight goals conceded in their last two trips. To add to their woes, Watford have lost 15 of their last 16 H2H matches in all competitions.
Players to watch: Eight of Paul Pogba’s (MUN) 11 PL goals have come at home this season. Gerard Deulofeu (WAT), meanwhile, has four goals and two assists in his last four PL matches.
