Montreal Impact vs Columbus Crew | MLS
After collecting a satisfactory eight points from a six-game roadtrip, Micheal Azira’s Montreal Impact opens their MLS home campaign at their beloved Saputo Stadium for the first time since 2011.
Impact have almost knocked off their miserable 2018 tally of 11 away points, already matching the two away clean sheets they managed last year.
If selected, this will be Azira’s sixth game making the starting IX, after coming off the bench in their recent outing against DC United – a match they drew 0-0.
Montreal have not lost an opening home fixture since 2014 and look unlikely to do so in 2019, unless Columbus can improve on recent MLS away form which has seen them win just one of their last ten on the road dating back to last year.
Azira and colleagues will however need to sharpen up late in each half, with fatigue beginning to take its toll: seven of their 11 goals conceded in 2019 have fallen inside the final 15 minutes (plus stoppage-time) of either half.
