Uganda Cranes team returned on a low key after the side failed to reach maximum potential at the 2019 COSAFA Championships in South Africa.

Majority of the players seemed dejected at Entebbe Airport as they made their way past the eagerly waiting cameras.

Experienced dread-locked striker Daniel Muzeyi Sserunkuma was bold enough to afford an interview with the media.

“We picked key lessons from the two matches played. The players showed the urge to get the desired positive results although luck eluded us. The team building process continues,” Sserunkuma, a striker at Vipers Sports Club noted.

At the COSAFA 2019 edition, the Uganda Cranes lost two matches, both on post-match penalties.

First, Uganda fell to Lesotho 4-2 on penalties in the main championship after normal time had ended goalless.

Then, in the second game, Uganda Cranes lost 3-2 to hosts South Africa in the plate event.

The team head coach Abdallah Mubiru believes the experience at the tournament was a perfect learning curve.

We were unlucky to bow out in the two matches played. The matches played were promising although we still have to perfect use of the ball in the final third.
