Uganda Premier League

Vipers SC 0-1 SC Villa

For the second season in a row, Sports Club Villa have gone to St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende and won a league game.

The record champions who made the trip to Entebbe road on Friday in struggling form after three successive losses in the league defied odds to win 1-0 against table leaders Vipers SC.

Villa had lost to KCCA FC at the end of the first round and started this year with losses to URA FC (2-0) and Busoga United FC (1-0).

However, Bashir Mutanda’s goal in the 53rd minute settled the closely contested encounter to help SC Villa return to winning ways.

The former Vipers SC player who scored 13 goals last season has struggled to find his scoring touch this season and the goal against Vipers SC was his first this season.

Villa will have to thank goalkeeper Saidi Keni who was outstanding on the day making several game-defining saves.

Vipers SC remains top of the table on 42 points despite the loss while SC Villa moves to 4th position on 30 points.
