Express FC head coach George Ssimwogerere was let off the hook on Saturday as his charges put up a solid performance to dispatch Proline FC.

The former Uganda Cranes defender needed help from security to leave Lugogo on Wednesday with fans baying for his blood.

Coming into the game on the back of a 6-1 annihilation by Police FC, the Red Eagles made a quick recovery to secure a 3-0 win.

This was the first game Express FC was hosting at their new home ground in Kavumba since shifting from Wankulukuku.

Dennis Sserukwaya opened the scores in the 8th minute converting from the spot after Ivan Ocholit had been fouled inside the box.

Three minutes later the Red Eagles doubled their lead.

Arnold Sserunjogi connected into his own net in an attempt to clear Daniel Shabena’s cross.

Ocholit got on the score sheet in the 63rd minute extending the hosts’ lead and surely confirming all points for the troubled sleeping giants.

Proline’s hopes of a comeback were dented when Kiwanuka missed from a penalty after Rogers Mato had been bundled in the area.

The win lifts Express FC to 11th on the table with 21 points while Proline stays at the base with 12 points in 18 games.
