Federations of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has suspended the Uganda Premier League and all it’s sister competitions in the wake of Uganda Government’s ban on all sports activities due to Coronavirus.
The Government announced the developments late Wednesday, at a televised conference in Entebbe where – all merry-making, concerts were suspended and schools closed with effect from Friday.
In a statement released by FUFA, the body also revealed the temporary halt of all FUFA sanctioned activities for 32 days.
“All FUFA authorised competitions will remain suspended suffice to say the Uganda Premier League (UPL) , the FUFA Big League (FBL), the FUFA Juniors League (FJL), the FUFA Regional League (FRL), the 4th Division League, the 5th Division League, the FUFA Women Super League (FWSL), the FUFA Women Elite League (FWEL), the FUFA Uganda Cup, the FUFA Women Cup and all FUFA authorised competitions,” part of the statement read.
“The FUFA Secretariat henceforth be closed to the public but the FUFA Staff will be available by telephone and email,” it added.
The football governing body also urged “its stakeholders to join the fight against this pandemic by observing the hygiene practices and Standards Operation Procedures (SOPs) issued by the Ministry of Health (MoH).”
